Overview

Especially in this time of funding instability, being able to successfully diversify your funding pool and expanding awareness of your research is more critical than ever.  This session will demonstrate techniques for adapting academic content for proposals, general public outreach, policy briefs, and social media. Discover how AI can help you quickly while adjusting tone, complexity, and format for maximum impact across different platforms.

Agenda

  • 15 minutes: live demonstration of AI-powered research rewriting techniques
  • 15 minutes: open discussion
    • What challenges have you faced in rewriting your research?
    • Have you used these tools for these or other purposes? 
    • What worked well? 
    • What did you learn?
  • 10 minutes: hands-on practice using Claude.ai
  • 5 minutes: group reflection and wrap-up

Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand how to use AI to write for different audience types
  • Use AI to quickly redraft existing research content in different formats
  • Understand key limitations of the technology

What to Bring

  • Your own research proposal, publication, or abstract (in digital format for easy copy/paste)
  • Laptop or device with internet access to use Claude.ai (if bringing a phone, you might want to download the Claude app ahead of time)
  • Questions or challenges you’ve faced in adapting research for different audiences
